What is Counselling & Therapy

More often than not, counseling and therapy are used interchangeably; however, there are a few major differences between them.

Counseling is usually short term and involves working with a psychologist or a mental health counselor on a particular issue. For instance, counseling can probably help if you are suffering from anxiety due to the recent pandemic. A counselor can help you with ideas to manage anxiety and guide you on the tools to use when you are anxious. On the whole, counselling tends to focus on a particular issue for a short duration.

On the other hand, therapy can be long term and focus on you as a person – how you view the world and yourself, your perspectives, your behaviors and getting to the root of your behavior. For example, if you suffer from depression, your therapist will tell you how depression affects your daily life and ways to develop coping strategies for you to feel better. These therapy sessions extend over a longer duration of time.

If you feel you need counselling and therapy or any kind of emotional support, leave an email or book your first counselling session here. We will get back to you at the earliest to assist you.
